“About a year ago I wrote an article talking about getting your hands in the prayer position if you want to improve your golf game. And now I would like to take it further, with three steps, what I call the 3H’s that will absolutely positively help you improve your golf game..”
“H1.”
“The drill is this, get into your set up position and put your hands together in the prayer position, and then (for right hander’s) bend them to the right at the wrist.”
“Here’s a picture of exactly what I am talking about:”
“Now stay in your set up position and swing your hands about a quarter of the way to your back swing and then making sure to to keep the hands in the same bent position make a descending swing hitting through the hitting zone.”
“This is the first H, the HINGE part of the swing”
“H 2.”
“The next step is to make sure that you are striking the ball then the ground, brushing the ground in front of the ball while using the technique in number one. To make sure that you consistently do this, get some talcum powder and create a white line on the grass. Then swing the club so that you hit the line every single time. If you can get talcum powder, stick two tees in the ground about a foot apart and swing the club between them, hitting the imaginary line between the two tees. This drill will make sure that you are able to hit the same spot, ie the ball then the ground, ensuring solid contact. This is the second H, the HIT part of the swing.”
“H 3.”
“Put the ball on the line and make the same swing and do not try to hit the ball, just swing the club down and through, holding the finish about the same height as the back-swing. This is the third H, the HOLD part of the swing.”
“Get the 3H’s right and I promise that your golf game will improve dramatically.”
